Four Stars for Eleven Years!
For eleven years in a row, the nation’s largest and most-used evaluator of charities—Charity Navigator—has given four stars to Alight for excellent financial, accountability, and transparency performance. Their highest ranking, Alight’s four star status for ten consecutive years puts us amongst the top tier of organizations working to provide critical services for refugees and displaced people internationally. It’s a huge honor, and a huge responsibility—one that we don’t take lightly.

We serve 4 million people in 21 countries
We work with refugees, displaced people, and marginalized communities in some of the toughest, hard to reach places across the globe. Places like Sudan, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, El Salvador, and Syria, where we find incredible people and partners to help us best serve and understand each location’s unique contexts. Reaching more than 4 million people a year through lifesaving healthcare, nutrition, water provision, shelter, economic opportunities, and much more, we seek to provide best-of-class quality wherever we go.

We find others to get close
At Alight, we believe in being a “we” organization, a shared organization. We know that our strength is in our together-ness. In our borderlessness. In our openness and belief in one another. This begins with humility—to know that we don’t, we can’t, have all the answers. So we find others. We seek diversity and include those who know better than us. That’s why we’ve partnered with organizations like Questscope, ORAM, and Eastern Congo Initiative, who are some of the best in their field—and sometimes the only organizations doing what they do. And they’ve joined the Alight family.

We respond to emergencies
While we serve people in everyday life, struggling to get back on their feet, when we can we also step up to respond in global emergencies, too. Like the Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2004, the Somali famine in 2011 and 2023, and Ebola in West Africa in 2014. These rapid response emergency situations require quick thinking, often needing to fundamentally shift how we work in order to continue serving people most at-risk.

We think big
Alight exists to inspire and unleash the abundance in every person. We’re striving everyday to become an organization that sees possibility instead of scarcity, that provides services truly worthy of human beings instead of just ‘good enough.’ From the people we serve to the people who serve alongside us, our purpose is to unlock limitless potential, together. That’s when abundance happens. We’re reimagining what’s possible, building a vision for the future that sees a life as so much more than simply satisfying basic needs.

We do the doable
The world’s tough problems can seem insurmountable. So at Alight, while we tackle those big problems, we also do the doable. Right then. And that’s what Changemakers 365 is all about. It’s about doing the doable, affecting real change for $500 or less each and every day. We launched Changemakers 365 in January 2017. And since then, we’ve completed 800+ days of change around the world – from Bangladesh to Somalia, Uganda to Pakistan.

Clean water for displaced people in 8 countries
Having access to clean, safe water is an essential building block of a healthy life. But In refugee camps and underserved places around the world, getting clean water is a daily challenge. In eight countries around the world, we work to build clean water taps, sanitation infrastructure, and provide hygiene education, three things that work together to build healthier communities. We then work side by side with people in those communities to establish, rehabilitate, and upgrade infrastructure, making sure things run smoothly and without unexpected interruptions.

We serve more than 1.5 million patients with our health programs each year
Alight has gained a reputation worldwide for delivering best-of-class healthcare services, in even the toughest, most remote places. We go where other organizations don’t—like South and East Darfur, and Somalia—and not only provide healthcare, but do it with an eye toward improvement, always. We believe that our care is only as strong as the system we build, ensuring that patients have access to a continuum of healthcare—from household to hospital.
