There's just two weeks left to become a sponsor and welcome a newcomer family to Minnesota. Sign up before November 28, 2024.

Why should you sponsor?

  • Sponsor groups enable more refugees to come to the U.S.
  • Sponsors help newcomers achieve self sufficiency
  • Sponsors provide support for the first 90 days

How do I get involved?

A Private Sponsor Group (PSG) is a group of at least five adults who are American citizens or lawful permanent residents that accept responsibility to provide core sponsorship services to a refugee or refugee family. Sponsors must raise a minimum of $2,425 in cash and in-kind contributions per refugee newcomer being welcomed. For sponsors who are submitting "matching applications" (i.e. sponsoring someone you don't know), funds are available to provide each sponsor group with $1,455 per refugee individual they welcome (or 60% of the amount needed per refugee) and Airbnb housing is available for the first 60 days of arrival, and possibly up to 60 days.

Everyday Americans like you are making transformational change

The Norlander family has stepped into sponsorship in a big way because they believe making a positive impact on one individual and family makes a positive impact in the world. “Instead of feeling helpless about the terrible things that are happening in the world, sponsorship is an opportunity to do something amazing, not just for the family we are sponsoring, but it has been a wonderful experience for our family too.

If you can’t sponsor, you can help by contributing financially in this time of need.
