Molly Henry is the Director of Talent & Seeking at Alight. For the past decade she has worked with Alight leaders in the US, Latin America, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa to find, develop, and retain talent. She currently leads a globally dispersed team of HR Partners to unleash teams worldwide on strategic people initiatives that will help Alight live up to its promise. Molly began her career in the nonprofit sector in the greater Seattle area, later moving home to the Twin Cities in Minnesota. The common thread throughout her experience in direct service, resource development, volunteer management, and human resources has been a desire to support and accelerate the gifts and potential of others.
Dorothy Mavhiri is the Director of Global Operations at Alight, supporting executive directors across the countries where we serve. With over 25 years of experience in the development and humanitarian sectors, Dorothy has held various technical and leadership roles across Africa, Eastern Europe, and North America. Before joining Alight, she contributed her expertise to organizations such as World Vision, Australian Aid, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, and the World Food Program.
Marion Wanyoike is the Director of Customer Insights at Alight, where she leads the organization in centering its efforts around its core customers—displaced communities. With over 14 years of experience in strategy, communications, and people leadership across Africa, Marion is a champion for co-creation, bringing together diverse perspectives to develop tools, resources, and practices that amplify empathy and insights. Prior to joining Alight, Marion served as the Managing Partner of EssenceMediacom Kenya, guiding over 30 multinational and local brands across Sub-Saharan Africa in integrated positioning excellence. A master facilitator and startup co-founder, she is passionate about supporting African startups and shaping purpose-driven strategies that create meaningful impact.
Mark White, Chief Financial Officer at Alight, has played a key role in the organization's ability to serve millions of displaced individuals. During his 14 years, White's leadership in finance, strategy, and IT has fueled Alight's financial growth and global reach, impacting over 4 million people in 20 countries annually. He has fostered a collaborative environment, promoting talent from within and overseeing a 40% revenue increase in 2023, with 87% directed towards programs. Mark's prior experience at Habitat for Humanity further bolstered his expertise in leading international humanitarian organizations.
Jocelyn Wyatt, CEO of Alight, leads a global team of over 2,300 members, leveraging her extensive strategic development expertise with a strong human-centered approach. Previously, as co-founder and CEO of IDEO.org, she drove collaborations with major global entities like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and Acumen, fostering a decade of impactful leadership. Jocelyn's influence extends to her roles as a founding board member of Airbnb.org, board member of IDEO.org, advisory board member of Marketplace, and founding member of Chief.
Zohra Zori, Chief Marketing & Engagement Officer at Alight, is a passionate leader with experience in marketing, communications, and social impact. Previously, she held leadership roles at Candid.org and Enactus.org, and her lifelong learning journey includes degrees from the University of North Florida and HEC Paris, as well as certifications in Executive Leadership and Racial Healing. Born in Afghanistan during the tumultuous Soviet invasion, Zohra's experiences with displacement have shaped her dedication to equity and her work with displaced communities.
Adan Adar is the Executive Director for Alight in the Horn of Africa. With more than 30 years of dedicated humanitarian service, Adan specializes in designing and managing programs in conflict and post-conflict settings, fostering resilience among displaced communities. His experience spans South Asia and Africa, including roles with the United Nations and Save the Children. Since 2011, he has expanded Alight’s programs into Somalia and the Horn of Africa region, cultivating talent, building strategic relationships with stakeholders, and mobilizing resources to ensure support reaches those in need. His commitment to excellence and solidarity embodies our organization’s mission.
Tariq Cheema is the Executive Director for Alight in Pakistan. Under his guidance, the Pakistan enterprise, established in 2002, has flourished, delivering education, healthcare, nutrition, and emergency aid to internally displaced children and Afghan refugees affected by conflict and climate change. With a staggering 70% of Pakistani children unschooled, Dr. Cheema's team has tirelessly pursued their successful One Million Kids in School campaign. Renowned for founding the World Congress of Muslim Philanthropists and the Global Donors Forum, his pioneering endeavors earned him a position among the top 500 Most Influential Muslims shaping the contemporary world.
Mohammed Idriss is the Executive Director for Alight in Sudan. With nearly two decades of experience in international humanitarian action, recovery, and development in challenging conflict and post-conflict settings across the Middle East and Africa, Idriss has delivered crucial responses and driven systems development for NGOs assisting displaced persons and host communities. With a holistic, community-based approach, he prioritizes public health while focusing on tackling climate change, improving food systems, and facilitating market access to bolster agriculture and livestock production.
Nasra Ismail is the Executive Director for Alight in the United States. With two decades of experience including shaping public policy in Washington D.C., leading humanitarian efforts in East Africa, and contributing to social justice movements in philanthropy, Nasra’s career reflects her commitment to equity and inclusion. She understands the needs of mission-driven organizations and has a proven track record of effective leadership with roles at respected organizations like the U.S. Millennium Challenge Corporation, Care US, Oxfam International, Co-Impact, and GivingTuesday. Nasra brings a unique perspective shaped by personal experiences, including displacement from Somalia, and she aims to foster positive change with compassion, resilience, and unwavering dedication.
Rosine Mpamya is Alight Uganda’s Executive Director. With over a decade of dedicated service in strategic human resources and insightful leadership, she is a proponent of fostering positive workplace environments. Rosine oversees a dynamic team of approximately 500 professionals who deliver life-saving services to more than 800,000 displaced individuals within Uganda, constituting a significant portion of the 1.6 million individuals hosted across various settlements in the nation.
Eunice Mwende boasts over 20 years of experience in humanitarian and development work, presently serving as the Executive Director at Alight Rwanda. Her expertise spans leadership roles in four East African countries—Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, and Rwanda—within various international organizations in the humanitarian sector. Before her current role, Eunice co-led the Global Cash Working Group in Uganda for the World Food Programme; she also served as Country Director for International Alert UK in Kenya and Somalia. Currently, Eunice leads efforts to develop solutions for Congolese and Burundian displaced persons across five refugee camps in Rwanda.
Christopher Nyamandi is the Executive Director for Alight in Europe. His extensive journey in the humanitarian sector has led him to pivotal roles, especially in conflict zones such as in Sudan, South Sudan, Nigeria and Afghanistan. Christopher's expertise is not just limited to programmatic leadership; he has been at the forefront of protection and on-the-ground activities across diverse humanitarian scenarios in Asia and Africa. In the last ten years, Christopher has occupied vital leadership stints in international organizations, further honing his profile as a distinguished humanitarian.
Fifi Sabang leads Alight Southeast Asia, overseeing programs that support refugees and empower communities to face climate emergencies. A doctor, surgeon, and psychiatrist, Fifi grew up displaced as a refugee, and has dedicated her career to helping those in crisis. Working in some of the world's most volatile regions, she tackled gender-based violence, provided healthcare services, and prepared communities for transitions back home. TAs Alight’s Country Director in South Sudan for three years, Fifi played a crucial role in combating gender-based violence through community work, case management, and education. Fifi was also at the forefront of Alight's response in Europe to the war in Ukraine in 2022. As the Interim Country Director for Alight Poland, she arrived just days after the start of the Russian invasion to support families and individuals seeking refuge.
Rajkumar Selwyndas, affectionally known as Selwyn, is the Executive Director of Alight South Sudan. He boasts over three decades of experience in humanitarian service, serving in various countries and agencies across Asia and Africa, including India, Sri Lanka, South Africa, South Sudan, and the Philippines. Selwyn leads and manages teams in contexts ranging from peaceful to conflict and post-conflict environments. Overseeing the Alight program in South Sudan for more than five years, he is committed to building resilience within communities and fostering abundance in individuals to improve their well-being and quality of life.
Inspired after sponsoring a Laotian refugee and his family for resettlement in the U.S., Neal Ball founded the American Refugee Committee (now Alight) in 1978 with a focus on people helping people. Initially based in Chicago, ARC aimed to reunite refugee families and engage everyday Americans in sponsoring and aiding refugees in resettlement. In 1979, prompted by witnessing refugee camps in Thailand, Neal and ARC’s first Executive Director Stan Breen launched the organization’s international programs, which have since expanded to numerous countries, impacting millions worldwide.
Dr. Brenda Cassellius, a dedicated educator with over three decades of experience, has made significant contributions to education at both the local and state levels. As Boston Public School Superintendent during the pandemic, she prioritized equity, passing historic admission policies and raising graduation requirements while securing substantial funding for the district. Her tenure as Minnesota's commissioner of education saw comprehensive reforms benefiting all children, including increased funding, expanded preschool access, and improved graduation rates. Cassellius's commitment to equity is evident in her advocacy for policies such as anti-bullying legislation and support for marginalized communities. Across various leadership roles, she has demonstrated a proactive approach to student-centered change, emphasizing collaboration and effective strategies.
Mark Dayton, Minnesota's 40th Governor from 2011 to 2019, implemented impactful policies, including raising personal income taxes on the wealthiest 2% of Minnesotans, leading to budget surpluses and funding initiatives like all-day kindergarten and expanded early childhood learning programs, as well as extending Medicaid coverage to over 500,000 uninsured residents. Dayton also championed marriage equality, strengthened environmental protections, and protected essential social services. Prior to his governorship, Dayton served as State Auditor and United States Senator, notably voting against the Iraq War Resolution and advocating for veterans through initiatives like the "Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Program." Before politics, he taught in New York City and worked in social services in Boston.
Lynn Hiestand, a retired partner of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, played a pivotal role in shaping the firm's Corporate Restructuring Department over nearly three decades, transitioning it from a litigation-centric approach to one focused on multidisciplinary, transactional strategies for distressed companies. Specializing in international restructuring, Lynn spearheaded the firm's European corporate restructuring practice from its London office, handling complex financial restructurings and troubled company M&A transactions across global jurisdictions. After retiring from Skadden in 2010, she dedicated herself to human rights work in Iraq with Heartland Alliance International, serving as Legal Programs Director and Iraq Country Director, focusing on strengthening the rule of law and providing services to vulnerable populations. Since returning in 2014, she has continued her humanitarian efforts as Heartland's Senior Technical Advisor for Rule of Law Programs. Presently, Lynn is the founding director and president of Common Threads Project Inc., working to support women affected by sexual and gender-based violence in conflict zones through capacity building, interventions, and research, alongside her involvement in Kiawah Island's Turtle Patrol, dedicated to protecting loggerhead turtles.
Vanessa is a seasoned brand leader and marketing strategist renowned for her transformative approach in building and expanding global brands over her two-decade career. Her expertise spans from high-growth startups to multibillion-dollar corporations, where she has spearheaded values-based brand strategies, fostering meaningful connections with both customers and communities. Muffy Macmillan has held directorial positions on various boards including Cargill Inc. and the Cargill Foundation, her family business, and serves on numerous international, national, and local boards such as the American Federation of Arts, Global Minnesota, and Opportunity International. She has received accolades like the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and the Pioneer Award from The Women's Entrepreneurship Day Organization for her philanthropic endeavors, and in 2019 was honored as an Outstanding Individual Philanthropist by the Minnesota Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Over the past 25 years, she has been actively involved with organizations such as the Minnesota Children’s Museum and Children’s Hospital of Minneapolis and St. Paul, demonstrating a commitment to philanthropy and volunteering worldwide, including in Africa, India, and Colombia.
Mark A. Mortenson has been with M. A. Mortenson Company since 1990, initially as a financial analyst before earning his law degree in 1995 and subsequently rejoining the company, serving in various project roles including assistant corporate secretary, until his appointment as corporate secretary in 2002. In 2005, he led the company in restructuring its investment program and in 2007 became president of Lansing Group, LLC, managing investment programs for the parent company, subsidiaries, Mortenson Family Foundation, and private entities, expanding into impact investing. Under his leadership, Lansing has facilitated the Foundation's growth in impact investment, becoming a leader in sustainable investing. Mark is also involved in various philanthropic and mission-driven organizations, having chaired Alight's board and served on the boards of Minnesota United FC and several other mission-driven businesses, and held positions in organizations like the Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota, Minnesota Zoo Foundation, United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, and Daystar U.S.
Rolando Nuñez Baza is a seasoned executive with a diverse background in the nonprofit and education sectors. As CEO of Roundtable by The 92nd Street Y, he leads a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing culture, connection, and enrichment globally. Before Roundtable, Rolando held key roles at Khan Academy, where he focused on revenue partnerships and expanding educational reach, particularly in Latin America. Prior to that, he contributed to the growth and innovation of Innova Schools, a network of affordable K–12 schools in multiple Latin American countries. Greg Page, the retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cargill, boasts a career spanning back to 1974 when he first joined the company as a trainee in the Feed Division. Throughout his tenure, he held various positions in the United States and Singapore, contributing significantly to key initiatives such as the establishment of poultry processing operations in Thailand and the management of Cargill’s Excel subsidiary's beef and pork processing in Wichita, Kansas. Additionally, he played a pivotal role in the Financial Markets Group based in Minneapolis. Presently, Page sits on the boards of directors for Eaton Corporation, Deere & Company, and 3M, assuming the role of non-executive Chairman of the Board for Corteva Agriscience. Virginia initially joined NIKE through the Nike Foundation, leading global partnerships and advocacy from London, and has since held various roles within the organization, including overseeing engagement and partnerships for global sustainability and leading purpose storytelling within global communications. As the founder of Tenthirty Consulting, Stefanie Schram acts as a C-Suite and leadership advisor for corporations, start-ups, and nonprofits to design and activate customer-centered strategy. She has collaborated with experts like Roger Martin, Jennifer Riel, and Josie Fung to develop The Playing to Win Toolkit for Harvard Business Publishing, which she integrates with design principles to address specific business challenges. As a Guest Lecturer in Strategy + Design in the Executive Programs at Rotman School at the University of Toronto, Stefanie brings her expertise in strategy and design to executive programs. Hamse Warfa is a longtime champion of Alight's work. As a senior advisor in the U.S. State Department, he played a key role in advancing a global democracy agenda. Prior to his federal appointment, Warfa served as Deputy Commissioner for Workforce Development in Minnesota, overseeing key state programs. Alongside his public sector roles, Warfa is a successful tech entrepreneur, co-founding BanQu Inc. and Tayo Consulting Group, and contributing significantly to philanthropic endeavors. His accolades include a Bush Foundation Fellowship, the Minnesota Statewide Facing Race Award, and recognition as an Ashoka Global Fellow. Warfa is also an accomplished author and filmmaker, known for works such as "America Here I Come: A Somali Refugee’s Quest for Hope" and a forthcoming documentary.
With a background in Early Childhood Education, Family Relations, and Social Work, Mary Farnham Whitney initially contributed to the Children's Home Society of Minnesota during the emergence of Post-Legal Adoption. Transitioning into consulting roles within philanthropy and interior design, she diversified her professional portfolio. Mary's involvement in public engagement expanded during her husband's tenure as the U.S. Ambassador to Norway. Throughout, she has been an active board member of several non-profits, including the Minnesota Zoo Foundation, the Persephone Foundation, the Children's Museum of Oslo project, and the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. Additionally, Mary co-owns a gallery featuring art and fine craft.
